AWS modernization from an on-prem architecture to a cloud architecture is one of the more complex projects to execute. You will need excellent leadership to get it done successfully.

All leaders follow the 3 C’s no matter what the project phase.

Know the eight types of leadership at your disposal.

As you understand your team members, their needs, and the context phase of the project, you can apply dynamic leadership. The kickoff needs AFFILIATIVE and INNOVATIVE styles.

Be a Visionary as you initiate the kickoff.

During the requirements phase, we need DEMOCRATIC and INNOVATIVE  styles. We were caught in analysis paralysis when we started the requirements journey. We needed to persuade enough folks for a consensus to move in a direction.

We must shift from DEMOCRATIC and INNOVATIVE  styles to a combination of PACESETTING and AUTHORITATIVE styles to commence the build phase and engage change.

Once our developers got into a rhythm, things started changing rapidly. Since things were changing too quickly in the build phase, we had to shift to the BUREAUCRATIC style in the testing and release phases.

The release phase needs a COACHING style for the deployment and Production Support teams. We also needed to train new team members and needed an ALTRUISTIC style to ensure they integrated well into the team.

Keep changing priorities at your focus at all phases of the project because it will change.

Master Communication of these priorities by running effective meetings

Develop Trust with team members, senior management, and complimentary partners to your project

Collaborate, collaborate, collaborate

Aim for Zero Defects
